Much of what happens in our mind occurs far from our focus, hidden… in the dark. Therefore, Radboud University will dedicate its 2026 annual neuroscience symposium, Synapsium, to the unconscious processes that silently shape our experience. The Synapsium, designed for Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD students, will take place on 17 and 18 April at the Donders Institute in Nijmegen (Netherlands).

This year, Synapsium invites us to explore those mechanisms operating below the threshold of consciousness, which influence what we feel, decide, and perceive without our knowledge. Under the motto “In the dark”, the meeting aims to shed light on what normally remains hidden: the unconscious processes that, without our realising, shape our experience of the world.

Over its thirteen previous editions, Synapsium has established itself as a meeting point for early-career researchers, where students can present their research, attend specialist lectures, participate in training workshops and establish connections with students and professionals from other institutions.

Date: 17–18 April 2026

Host University: Radboud University (RU, Netherlands)

Pre-registration Deadline: 8 April

Places funded by UMH: 1

Useful links: link

The programme consistently features a keynote lecture delivered by a renowned researcher, student presentations and an open debate on current topics within cognitive neuroscience.

If you are interested in applying, please follow the procedure outlined in: How to apply through UMH.
