These courses are part of KI&#8217;s <em>Frontiers in Neuroscience<\/em> offer and will take place from September to November 2024.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">The courses that the Swedish university has opened for<strong> doctoral students<\/strong> from the alliance are the ones below:<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000080\"><b>The developing brain <\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">(<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/doctoralcourses.application.ki.se\/fubasextern\/info?kurs=C2F2780\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">enlace<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">)<\/span><\/h2>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify\">\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\"><b>Description and objectives: <\/b>This course is designed to deepen the understanding of the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying neurobiological function and to broaden students&#8217; horizons. Throughout the course, the main stages of development from neural stem cells to mature circuits will be studied. Molecular and tracing technologies, as well as model organisms, will also be used. An important aspect of the course concerns molecular technologies for labelling, transcriptional analysis, and genetic manipulation of defined neuronal populations.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\"><b>Course dates: <\/b>from 30 of September to 4th October.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000080\"><b>Functional cognitive neuroanatomy <\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">(<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/doctoralcourses.application.ki.se\/fubasextern\/info?kurs=C4F5573\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">enlace<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">)<\/span><\/h2>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify\">\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>Description:<\/strong> The aim of this course is, through theoretical and practical sessions, to understand how the brain makes decisions, forms long-term memories, and manages emotions. In addition, neuroanatomy related to these functions will be explored by examining human brains using magnetic resonance imaging.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>Course dates:<\/strong> from 21st October to 25th October 2024.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000080\"><b>Neurodegenerative Disorders I: Genes, Mechanisms, and Clinical Aspects<\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/doctoralcourses.application.ki.se\/fubasextern\/info?kurs=H1F5572\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">enlace<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">)<\/span><\/h2>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify\">\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>Description and Objectives:<\/strong> The aim of this course is for participants to gain knowledge about the genetics, molecular mechanisms, clinical features, and treatment strategies of neurodegenerative disorders. Participants will attend theoretical classes and give oral presentations.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>Course dates:<\/strong> from 7th October to 11th November 2024.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000080\"><b>Neurodegenerative disorders II: Cellular and Molecular Mechanisms<\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/doctoralcourses.application.ki.se\/fubasextern\/info?kurs=H1F2630\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">enlace<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">)<\/span><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>Description and Objectives:<\/strong> The course provides a comprehensive approach to neurodegenerative disorders, covering both basic and clinical aspects. It includes lectures, lab demonstrations, and group discussions.
