UMH Rector Welcomes the Medical University of Innsbruck to NeurotechEU

The Rector of the Miguel Hernández University of Elche (UMH), Juan José Ruiz, together with the coordinator of the European university alliance, the European University of Brain and Technology – NeurotechEU, Richard van Wezel, has welcomed the Medical University of Innsbruck (MUI) into NeurotechEU. The alliance celebrated a significant milestone on November 5th, 2025, during its X General Assembly: the accession of MUI to the alliance.

The NeurotechEU alliance, which previously comprised eight universities, continues to grow with the aim of creating a higher education space that transcends national borders. The accession of the Austrian institution underscores NeurotechEU’s commitment to expanding its transnational network to drive education, research, and innovation in the field of neuroscience and neurotechnology.

The European University of Brain and Technology is an alliance of European universities, co-funded by the European Commission, whose objective is to create a transnational campus of excellence to educate the next generation of professionals and scientists in neurotechnology, integrating education, research, and innovation. Alongside the UMH, the member universities of NeurotechEU are: Radboud University (Netherlands), Karolinska Institutet (Sweden), University of Bonn (Germany), Boğaziçi University (Turkey), Iuliu Haţieganu University of Medicine and Pharmacy (Romania), University of Lille (France), and the University of Reykjavik (Iceland).
