Managers of the European University of Brain and Technology at Radboud University Visit UMH to Collaborate with the Local Delegation

The visit focused on strengthening the relationship between allied university members and advancing the first joint master’s programme of the NeurotechEU alliance.
The managers of the European University of the Brain and Technology (NeurotechEU) at Radboud University (Nijmegen, Netherlands), Wim Scheenen and Aaron Klomp, are concluding their visit today to Miguel Hernández University of Elche (UMH). During their stay, they were welcomed by the Vice-Rector for Internationalisation and Cooperation, Vicente Micol, and met with the project leader at UMH, Juana Gallar; the Director of the International Relations, Development Cooperation, and Volunteering Service, Inmaculada Blaya; José María Azorín, researcher at the Institute of Research in Engineering of Elche (I3E-UMH), involved in the NeurotechEU working group on joint teaching activities; and UMH Alumni manager, Alejandro García. Additionally, they held meetings with the members of the NeurotechEU communication working group, Júlia Santacreu, and Ángeles Gallar, as well as the project managers at UMH, Sonia Martín and Alicia Sanavio.
During the visit, the Radboud managers met with Juana Gallar and José María Azorín as part of the preparation for the first joint NeurotechEU master’s program, focused on neurotechnology, which is expected to be implemented starting in the 2027/2028 academic year. They also met with Inmaculada Blaya, leader of the Quality Assurance working group, to work on quality indicators that will ensure the optimal performance of NeurotechEU’s various activities. Lastly, the meeting with the UMH Alumni manager took place to explore the possibility of establishing an Alumni network within the alliance, given the interest expressed by former NeurotechEU students.
This meeting aimed to strengthen ties between members of the allied universities, gain a better understanding of the structure and organization of these institutions, and identify new teaching and research opportunities they can offer to the project. In this regard, Azorín showed Radboud colleagues the Brain-Machine Interface Systems Lab at UMH, explaining the work being carried out and the potential the facility offers to the alliance.
The European University of Brain and Technology is an alliance of eight European universities with a focus on neuroscience and neurotechnology.
