The European University of Brain and Technology, NeurotechEU, holds its 8th Board of Rectors

With the goal of strengthening the integration of the European University of Brain and Technology –NeurotechEU, the Boğaziçi University (Turkey), a member of this European alliance, has organized the second Board of Rectors of 2024 in Istanbul. Miguel Hernández University of Elche (UMH) was represented by the vice-rector for Internationalisation and Cooperation, Vicente Micol, and the leader of the project at UMH and director of the Institute of Neurosciences (UMH-CSIC), Juana Gallar.
Micol and Gallar were accompanied by the director of the International Relations, Development Cooperation, and Volunteering Service, Inmaculada Blaya, who is also a member of the Governing Board of the NeurotechEU Alliance. Additionally, the director of the Centre for Translational Research in Physiotherapy, Maria del Carmen Lillo, attended as an active participant in the work package focused on empowering students and staff.
The university delegation included the Rector’s delegate for Healthy Campuses and member of the working group on equal opportunities and integration, Raúl Reina; the Rector’s delegate for Digital Transformation, Federico Botella, an active member of the working group for NeurotechEU’s Campus+ educational platform; the deputy Vice-Rector for Institutional Positioning and Rankings, José Manuel Blanes, a member of the work package promoting mobility among partner universities in the alliance; and researcher from UMH’s Brain Machine Interface Systems laboratory, Eduardo Iáñez, who is involved in the workgroup dedicated to developing the alliance’s academic program in neurotechnology. Also attending the Board of Rectors were project managers Maria José Such, an expert in quality assurance, and Sonia Martín, along with communications officer Júlia Santacreu.
In parallel, the second edition of the NeurotechEU Hackathon took place, with participation from Desirée Garcia, a representative of the Synapses Club formed by UMH students in NeurotechEU, and the winner of UMH’s 3-Minute Thesis Competition, Jesica Martínez.
The NeurotechEU European alliance aims to provide the scientific community with a center of higher education and research focused on neurotechnology, with the objective of addressing health issues related to neuroscience and mental health through affordable technologies. In addition to UMH, the NeurotechEU alliance includes seven other universities: Radboud University (Netherlands), Karolinska Institute (Sweden), University of Bonn (Germany), Boğaziçi University (Turkey), Iuliu Hatieganu University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Cluj-Napoca (Romania), University of Lille (France), and Reykjavik University (Iceland).
