Seminar by Sergio Castro-Gomez: Targeting inflammasomes to treat acute and chronic neurodegeneration

Boğaziçi University, a member of the NeurotechEU Alliance, is organising the online seminar “Targeting inflammasomes to treat acute and chronic neurodegeneration” on 27 March at 12:00 CET. The seminar, delivered by Dr. Sergio Castro-Gómez from the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn, will explore the critical intersection between clinical neurology and basic neuroscience. The session will delve into the molecular mechanisms of learning and memory, with a particular focus on the latest research into neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Dr. Castro-Gómez’s career spans general medicine, neurology, and basic neuroscience, with a specific interest in the molecular mechanisms of learning and memory, neurodegenerative diseases, and neuroinflammation. He is currently a physician-scientist in neurology at Bonn University Hospital, as well as a researcher, postgraduate lecturer, and junior research group leader at the Centre for Neurology and the Institute of Physiology II at the University of Bonn.
